Teen Ministry

Last winter, our church was given an incredible opportunity to partner with In Jesus Name to work with teenagers in the Hoboken community. Without really knowing what we were getting into our leadership team of Darren Farrell, Reagan Kelly, Marcy Gupta, and Sonny Gupta brainstormed several ideas to start establishing a relationship with these children. During the past few months, we hosted several events including a Christmas
event, a cake decorating contest, a picnic in the park and a sports night with several competitive games of basketball.

Spending time with these kids has been an awesome experience for all involved. There is a tremendous amount of energy, creativity, and talent demonstrated by the teens. Many of these kids come from challenging "home environments." As we get to know them, we see how they actually inspire us. Our hope is that we can share the love of Jesus and help them to understand the beauty of a relationship with Christ. We have been encouraged with the bonds being formed and that we have had excellent turnout at all of our events.

If you have a passion for working with teens and would like to get involved, we would love to have you. You can contact any of the people mentioned above for additional information. Additionally we are looking for support from the HFG's groups to organize meals for the kids when we have future events. Praise God for all the work he has done with this ministry!

" I really feel like I have bonded with some of these kids. When I see them on the street they are excited to see
me. Now I get smiles and hugs, very cool."

"Before one event I remember sitting on my bed and praying so hard that God would motivate somebody to show up, anybody! And they did!"

"When we first decided to start this, I think all of us were nervous on the direction of the program. We did not know the kids attending and we really did not know each other. With time we have related with the kids and formed new friendships with each other."
